comfortable stay but room could use updates
The staff were exceptionally friendly and provided great assistance throughout my stay. I particularly enjoyed the cafe on Sunday morning with its delightful full English menu, which added a special touch to my experience.
The room felt a little dated in terms of decor and amenities.

had a fab stay at the bear! comfy room that was nicely decorated, and the high street location was perfect for the wedding i attended at the town hall. owners and staff were super friendly and welcoming, made me feel right at home. bar had a great selection and the food was amazin! amazing value for my stay and loved the character of the place.
was a bit noisy from the pub below, especially on sat night. parking was a hassle since there’s no dedicated spot.

Had a fantastic time with my friends! We visited the hog roast and enjoyed the ale trail celebrating 180 years of brewing. The staff were super friendly, and the atmosphere was lively. Just a heads up to future guests about potential noise from the bar.

Perfect for a wedding stay!
We spent a night here for a wedding. Super comfy room with a nice ensuite. Friendly staff greeted us and warned about noise from live music. we weren’t bothered at all! Breakfast was good, locally sourced food. Only thing was the water pressure, which needs a bit of work. a lovely experience!

missingWrote a review on 21 Maylively atmospherelocal musicvibrant backdroppoor sound
The lively atmosphere generated by evening music events creates a vibrant backdrop for socializing, perfect for those looking for a good time. The pub hosts local music talent, which adds a unique charm, making it a notable spot in town.
Sound levels here can be an absolute nightmare on weekends, especially if your room is above the pub where the live music plays until the early hours. Even with earplugs, the noise from late-night revelers and slamming doors makes it incredibly hard to catch any decent sleep. that, the curtains fail to block out the morning light, waking you up way too early. There's also an odd glare from the emergency exit light that doesn't help the situation. To top it off, I found the bed uncomfortable, leading me to sleep on the duvet for extra cushion. Lastly, if you're counting on breakfast, be warned—it may not be available, catching you off guard.
